FACT: battles = wow

Battles, a new york based math rock band played last night in probably the most energized, enjoyable, musically enigmatic show i've been to in... well in a long time. 

if i could go back in time and relive the concert, i would. instead i watch their music video over and over again.

FACT: awareness ribbons

the awareness ribbon as we know it today rose to popularity in 1991, with the red AIDs ribbon. rising so quickly in popularity, 1992 was declared by the nytimes as the 'year of the red ribbon'. 

since then, it seems that the amount of causes using ribbons to increase support and awareness has grown at an amazing rate. 

fascinating though, that there is a light brown 'awareness ribbon' to end chain email, no? coincidentally, if you don't forward this blog post to 10 people in the next 10 minutes......

CELEBRATION: international women's day

started in 1909 by the socialist party of america, International Women's Day stands to celebrate the economic, political and social achievements of women.

recognized most of the world over as a national holiday, it has begun to represent less of the social/economic/political advancements of women and instead become a combination of valentines day and mothers day.

this year, IWD focuses its sights on ending violence against women and girls the world over. a much better holiday then valentines day!

FACT: flying

the beautiful geometrical spirals painted on the inside of airline engines serve more then an aesthetic purpose.

when visible, the spirals inform ground crew that the engines of jets are powered off, and safe to approach.

when not visible, the engines turbines are spinning and distance from them is essential.
